I have been teaching for 7 years both within the U.K. and internationally. Currently in Singapore, I have also worked in Thailand and Dubai. It has always been a passion of mine to keep up with best practice and experiment with new ideas in my classroom. As I enter my 8th year of teaching, my aim is to get involved in more peer observations with my colleagues in order to learn more from others. This blog will document the path I weave as I develop my teaching through reading current research, sharing ideas with colleagues and putting theory into practice.
My philosophy of education is to create a safe environment for students to learn in and develop their thinking through inquiry. I categorise myself as a facilitator of learning whereby I foster a creative, inquiring atmosphere in which students can set out their own paths to explore. Taking a step back from traditional teaching has been a tough road but a valuable one. I am still learning every day.
“I never teach my pupils. I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.”
